Learn to Swim Program

BECOME A LIFEGUARD

Primary lifeguard duties include pool surveillance, lifesaving and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct rostered pool tests and pool maintenance to ensure full compliance with Health Department Regulations;
  2. Ensure the water space at the Centre is supervised in accordance with guidelines for safe pool operations.
  3. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance schedules including regular audit checks of standards.
  4. Act as duty manager when rostered or as directed and ensure all shift staff comply with Centre procedures and policies including customer relation requirements, pool supervision standards and cash handling requirements.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION​

Essential

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Pool Life Guard Certificate.
  • CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience in pool testing.
  • Current Working with Children Check.

Desirable

  • Austswim Registration is highly regarded.

SELECTION CRITRIA

Together with energy, enthusiasm and commitment, successful applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  1. Ability to work as an effective, positive team member and manage own time, set priorities and balance competing (and sometimes conflicting) demands in a flexible team and customer-focused environment.
  2. Ability to provide accurate and timely advice to customers in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  3. Sound knowledge of statutory regulations, codes of practice and legislation pertaining to the execution of the Pool Attendant’s duties.

BECOME A SWIM INSTRUCTOR

The Role:

  • Effective communicator. Must be attentive, caring and have a keen willingness to learn.
  • Confident, polite and well spoken when dealing with Children, our customers and peers.

While our teaching positions are casual, we have a variety of shifts available to suit.

  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety.
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
  • Current Working with children check.

Desirable

  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant Aquatics.
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Aquatics for People with a Disability Certificate.
  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
  • Bronze Medallion.

    Yarra Plenty Waves, the leading swim club in Melbourne's north, seeks a Casual Strength & Conditioning Coach to join their program. This role is perfect for students studying a fitness-related field, such as Sports Science or Exercise Physiology.

    Your key duties will be:

    • Lead strength & conditioning sessions for swimmers, delivering a program developed by the Director of Coaching.

    • Coach and support athletes during dryland training

    • Track athlete progress and collaborate with the coaching team

    • Ensure a safe and inclusive training environment

    You'll be a great fit if you:

    • Are a university student, preferably in a fitness-related field.

    • Possess a genuine passion for fitness, strength training, and coaching.

    • Flexibility to work primarily after school, with occasional weekend sessions.

    • Communicate effectively and thrive in a team environment.

    • Are eager to learn and grow as a Strength & Conditioning Coach.

    • Hold a current First Aid & CPR Certificates and Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).

      ▪️ Develop and implement training programs under the Director's guidance.

      ▪️ Increase squad member numbers and ensure member retention. 

      ▪️ Create and manage training plans and schedules, including dryland activities.

      ▪️ Attend competitions, training sessions, clinics, and conferences.

      ▪️ Oversee daily attendance records and monitor athlete progress.

      ▪️ Collaborate with athletes, parents, and other coaches to promote swimmer wellbeing and engagement.

      *You Are a Perfect Fit if You Have:*

      ▪️ Minimum SCTA Development Coaching Accreditation.

      ▪️ Prior experience as a Swim Coach in a club setting (preferred).

      ▪️ Legal working rights in Australia.

      ▪️ Pool Lifeguard Certification or willingness to obtain it within 3 months.

      ▪️ Current First Aid Certificate (Level 2).

      ▪️ Working with Children Check.

      ▪️ Availability to work weekends and flexible hours (driver's licence and reliable transportation a must).

      *A Plus if You Also Have:*

      ▪️ SCTA Advanced Coaching Accreditation or are pursuing it.

      ▪️ Level I Strength & Conditioning certification or equivalent.
