Learn to Swim Program

LIFEGUARD

Primary lifeguard duties include pool surveillance, lifesaving and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct rostered pool tests and pool maintenance to ensure full compliance with Health Department Regulations;
  2. Ensure the water space at the Centre is supervised in accordance with guidelines for safe pool operations.
  3. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance schedules including regular audit checks of standards.
  4. Act as duty manager when rostered or as directed and ensure all shift staff comply with Centre procedures and policies including customer relation requirements, pool supervision standards and cash handling requirements.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION​

Essential

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Pool Life Guard Certificate.
  • CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience in pool testing.
  • Current Working with Children Check.

Desirable

  • Austswim Registration is highly regarded.

SELECTION CRITRIA

Together with energy, enthusiasm and commitment, successful applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  1. Ability to work as an effective, positive team member and manage own time, set priorities and balance competing (and sometimes conflicting) demands in a flexible team and customer-focused environment.
  2. Ability to provide accurate and timely advice to customers in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  3. Sound knowledge of statutory regulations, codes of practice and legislation pertaining to the execution of the Pool Attendant’s duties.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR

The Role:

  • Effective communicator. Must be attentive, caring and have a keen willingness to learn.
  • Confident, polite and well spoken when dealing with Children, our customers and peers.

While our teaching positions are casual, we have a variety of shifts available to suit.

SELECTION CRITRIA

Essential

  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety.
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
  • Current Working with children check.

Desirable

  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant Aquatics.
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Aquatics for People with a Disability Certificate.
  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
  • Bronze Medallion.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering high-quality swim instruction in accordance with our program guidelines and industry standards.
  • Creating and implementing your own training programs aligned with the Head Coach's overall plan.
  • Working collaboratively with the coaching staff to ensure a positive and productive team environment.
  • Providing a safe and supportive environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
  • Maintaining open communication with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Possesses a strong swimming background and coaching experience.
  • Holds current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and water safety.
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Lead Swim Coach: Development & Progression

Ready to take the plunge and mentor the next generation of swimmers? Yarra Plenty Waves is looking for a passionate, full-time Lead Swim Coach to join our team in Greensborough. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated coach to play a crucial role in athlete development. Working closely with the Head Coach, your primary focus will be on the daily delivery of squad sessions and guiding swimmers as they transition from our Learn-to-Swim program into competitive pathways.

You will be responsible for delivering structured training, focusing on technique, fitness, and motivation. You'll also provide leadership and mentorship to a team of 2-4 Assistant Junior Squad Coaches.

  • Salary: Highly Rewarding Package, negotiable and commensurate with experience.
  • Hours: Full-Time (38 hours per week), including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, plus swim meet support.
  • Reports to: Head Coach

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Athlete Development: Deliver high-quality squad sessions and successfully transition swimmers from our beginner development programs into competitive squads.
  • Team & Culture: Work collaboratively with the coaching team to maintain a positive, progressive, and inclusive training environment.
  • Competition: Support swimmers at club events and competitions, offering race preparation and post-race feedback.
  • Leadership: Provide direction and mentorship to Junior Squad Coaches.

  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member

Desirable: Strength & Conditioning Certificate, Adult Squad coaching experience, or experience with Access and Inclusion/Learners with Disability.
